![]() Here are my sporadic thoughts for the movie, apologies they might be long: It packed a deep emotional punch with me, and I would rank this as one of my favorite movie musicals of the last few years. But I do think there is a lot to relate to of the idea of trying to create and leave behind something meaningful and feeling overwhelmed by all that life can throw at you as you get older. Some of the direct storylines and themes may not speak to those not involved in theatre, or who don’t consider themselves artists. Wasn’t the biggest fan of Vanessa Hudgens acting or singing wise, it all felt a bit overproduced compared to the rest of the cast who felt a bit more real and rough around the edges. He obviously has a pretty face and the A-list status to hold up any Hollywood movie, but his choices and performances continue to prove he wants more than just that. ![]() His ability to bring both grounded, real emotional gravitas, and then comedic, charismatic levity always brings about dynamic performances. ![]() After seeing him in his Tony Award winning turn in Angels in America and then this, he has solidified himself as one of the great actors of this up and coming generation for me. Andrew Garfield continues to impress me with everything he does. ![]()
